New Safety Regulation

Mandatory Seatbelt Requirement for All Bus Passengers

Effective July 1, 2025. MOTAC and JPJ enforce mandatory seatbelt usage for all passengers and drivers on express and tour buses.

Key Seatbelt Regulation Details

Mandatory for Everyone

All drivers and passengers on express and tour buses must wear seatbelts at all times during travel.

Effective Date

Enforcement begins July 1, 2025. All tour operators must comply from this date forward.

RM300 Fine

Individuals who fail to wear seatbelts face a RM300 penalty. Drivers who fail to remind passengers are also fined.

Driver Responsibility

Drivers must ensure all passengers wear seatbelts. Bus companies face action if buses manufactured after January 2020 lack seatbelts.

Applicable Buses

Mandatory for buses manufactured after January 2020. Older buses given time to install seatbelts.

Safety Purpose

Regulation aims to enhance passenger safety in public transportation and reduce injury severity in accidents.
